Here we go! I’d really been looking forward to this one since I first started chatting to these guys. I love an elopement and an intimate wedding. I love it when couples decide to go untraditional or alternative and do things their own way. And I LOVE a London wedding! When the backdrop of your wedding is the best city in the world, you can’t really go wrong can you?!
The day started for me on the steps of The Old Marylebone Town Hall (what a building!), waiting for Avril to arrive. Stuart, our groom, was already inside having his pre wedding meeting, but mostly staying warm! We soon had our bride making her way up the steps of the town hall and heading inside.
This was an intimate ceremony, with just the happy couple’s parents there (and me!). They’d soon all taken their seats, and Stuart took his in front of everyone before Avril and her dad walked in. From this point on these two couldn’t stop smiling! They exchanged rings, said their “I do’s”, and made their way back out with even bigger grins on their faces!
After a few snaps inside this amazing building of the newlyweds, we made our way outside with everyone else to grab a few group shots as well as the all important confetti pic on the steps outside. Who needs loads of guests when you’ve got confetti canons?!?! We snapped some group shots, and let the guests head over the road to The Landmark Hotel where lunch was going to be…and to warm up again. We stayed out in the cold for little bit longer to grab some snaps of the happy couple.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I love shooting weddings in London. I love the energy, I love the red buses, I love the big and bold architecture and the industrial and beaten up alleyways. It has it all. And I love this venue too. I love the steps outside, the big arches and alcoves, the wooden doors. I could go on and on and on…
We made the most of the building and the surrounding area before heading over the road to meet everyone. The Landmark Hotel is another stunning venue, inside is an absolute dream! We snapped a few pics of these two inside before I left them to have lunch with their guests.
Later on that evening, I met back up with these guys for the paaarrrttyyy!!! We were at the Royal Foresters in Ascot, where we had a lot more guests waiting for us this time, which meant we had one hell of a busy dance floor…and these guys knew how to rip up a dance floor! After a few more group shots, a couple of quick speeches, and a first dance, the dance floor was open and jumping all night long. We managed to sneak outside for a breather and a final few pics of our newlyweds, before heading back inside to bust some more shapes and to hand out some more shots!
These are two of the nicest people you could meet, and it such a pleasure to be part of their day. Every wedding is so special to be part of, but there’s something even more special about an elopement or micro wedding. It’s a real privilege to be there to witness it. To be invited into a small, intimate group and then to be trusted to capture it is really not something that I take for granted. Thanks so much for having me there guys.
Big congrats to both of you!
